ERASING MOONRISE | 2023
Erasing Moonrise is a durational performance that took place at Galerie Thomas Zander, Cologne, March 4th, 2023. The artist Tarrah Krajnak taped three copies of Ansel Adams' Moonrise, Hernandez, NM,1941 to the gallery floor. She dipped her hair in a bucket of hot coffee and slowly scrubbed away the emulsion of the photographs. At the end of the performance, with her hair dripping in coffee and full of the remnants of emulsion, she recited an original  poem she wrote through a process of redacting Ansel Adams' description of Moonrise published in The Making of 40 Photographs,1983.
